Powder & Heat, an expert in 3D printing of spectacles frames, has developed a new 3D printing process to cost-effectively produce glasses in intense colors to customer specifications. The company chose nylon as the printing material, the results weigh 30% less than the usual acetate models.
24 Models in 18 Sizes
Until now, 3D-printed glasses were only available in monochrome, reduced design and with matt surfaces. With the new technology, spectacles frames can now be produced with multi-colored textures, intensive colors and a high-quality surface. You can choose from 24 models in 18 sizes in nine color and twelve texture combinations.
Already Award Winner
The two founders of Powder & Heat, Georg Vollmer and Manuel Breit, have proven their know-how in design, software and 3D printing with the following awards at the latest: The model “The Flamboyant” has already won the German Design Award 2017 and the Red Dot Design Award 2017.

The models are available from opticians who can obtain the desired frames directly from Powder & Heat in Erding, Germany.
In cooperation with Powder & Heat, interested opticians receive not only a detailed introduction and training, but also the appropriate tools to sell the customisable glasses in the form of user-friendly software.
